FREE Training For OFWs And Dependents

OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration), the government agency working to protect and promote the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers and their dependents, provides training scholarships to qualified OWWA members and their beneficiaries. It works with Informatics, OWWA's preferred training partner, teaching practical career skills for local and international employment.

Who can avail?

1. An active OFW member
2. A beneficiary of a married OFW. They can be the spouse, a child 20 years and below, single and at least High School graduate.
3. A beneficiary of an unmarried OFW. It should be the sibling 20 years and below, single and at least High School graduate.


Procedure:
1. Go to Informatics to get the list of required documents.

In my case, since I am married, they had required my wife to submit a HS/College Diploma, a copy of my OWWA membership certificate (This is the exit clearance, the same document OFW brings to airport to get exemption from travel taxes.) and  marriage certificate. Make sure to bring an original and a photocopy.

2. Get your recommendation letter. Informatics will first ask you why you want to avail the scholarship before writing a recommendation letter.

3. Submit to OWWA (Pasay main office) the complete documents to secure approval of the scholarship.

4. If you got approve, present the notice of award to Informatics and choose your schedule.

What are the courses offered?

There are short courses and degree programs offered. You can only enrol to one.

Short Courses:
  • Computer Hardware Servicing -   Intro to Networks, PC Trouble Shooting /Career: Computer Technician
  • Computer Programming -   Program Logic Formulation, C Programming, Java Programming /Career: C Programmer, Java Programmer
  • Web Design  -  Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver Flash /Career: Web Designer, Graphic Artist
  • Technical Drafting  -  AutoCAD Module 1 , AutoCAD Module 2 /Career: AutoCAD Operator
Bachelor Degree Course:
  • Computer Engineering 4 years
3-Year Courses:
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Information Management
  • Business Administration, major in Marketing
